Records of the Panama Canal, 1848 - 1999 (RG185). General Records, 1914 - 1934 (A1 34-B)

Description: The United States completed work on the Panama Canal in 1914 and continued to control the canal and the Panama Canal Zone until a 1977 treaty started the transition to local oversight. This collection from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration includes records from 1914-1934 concerning such matters as relations between the Canal Zone and the Republic of Panama as well as general local concerns. Of particular note are records relating to employment issues and labor grievances.
