The birth of Armageddon. The first H-Bomb detonates and the proud father is Edward Teller. But he's on a collision course with Robert Oppenheimer; head of the team that created the Atom bomb. Now Oppenheimer has turned pacifist and the government will stop at nothing to neutralize him. And Teller is their star witness. Comparison to "being a little pregnant" - half-megaton fission bombs are moral but 5-megaton h-bombs are not Both sides of that controversy are expressed here: one the one hand, no place for morality in the equation - if we don't build it, the Russians will; if a "bigger stick" can possibly exist, we must build it first, ourselves, despite any risks that might occur simply because anyone has such a big stick. On the other hand: no place for such a weapon to exist because it has no possible military use but by definition is a terror weapon that can only be used against civilian populations - genocide - but regardless shouldn't be built, at all costs, simply because of the risk to that it could possibly destroy the planet.
