"Starting with B for 'behaviour', this film takes an alphabetical journey through the key issues affecting group work, and features eight teachers from across the UK sharing their tried and tested strategies for success.
For example, when it comes to choosing your groups, how important are attainment levels, and is there ever an appropriate time to let the children work in friendship groups? How do they decide when to intervene (and when not to)?
During the course of the programme they talk about their different strategies for organising the groups, how they encourage children to develop the all-important group work skills (including a rather crafty method for keeping track of how many children have contributed in a group!) and what - in their experience - can go wrong with group work (and how to fix it)."

"Starting with A for assessing, this film takes an alphabetical journey through the key issues affecting cross-curriculum teaching, and features eight teachers from across the UK sharing their tried and tested strategies for success.
During the course of the programme, the teachers talk about the role they see creativity playing in cross-curriculum teaching and learning; the different ways in which they ensure that the cross-curriculum work involves shared experiences (including pretending to be a penguin); and how they try to develop their pupils' transferable knowledge and skills.
When it comes to linking, the message is 'never say never ' (although the link must always be meaningful) and everyone agrees how important relevance is to cross-curriculum work. But what can go wrong with cross-curriculum teaching?"

"How can you keep your class engaged and their learning on track? Nine teachers from schools across the UK talk about creativity, what is it and how they use it.
Creativity isn't just art; these teachers talk about their responsibility to engage pupils in lessons, whether they are teaching times-tables or science. Being a creative teacher is demanding and a key skill is flexibility in planning, and in the approach to lessons. Whether it's speaking in an Australian accent, dressing up, using first hand experiences, or bringing in packed suitcases for a geography class, these teachers use interactive techniques to motivate and inspire creativity in their pupils. Sometimes this means the teacher modelling a creative response, which can be tough, risky and for some scary. And - what is it that kills creativity in the classroom?"

Assessment & Lesson Observation captures the hopes and fears of two Primary NQTs, David Freeborn and Sandra Abdulai-Saani, as their teaching skills are put to the test in the second term of their induction year.
The programme provides insight into the typical problems that most NQTs experience during observations, and induction expert Sara Bubb advises on common pitfalls and how best to prepare for the follow-up meeting.
Both NQTs left their office jobs to take up teaching - David to train on a one-year PGCE and Sandra on a three year BEd. They each have Year 3 classes in South London primary schools. For David behaviour management has been the biggest challenge to date, for Sandra it has been differentiation.
The programme follows their assessment from the anxious preparation before the lesson to the frank discussions in the feedback session.
Discover if Sandra and David's observation lessons make the grade and help them pass their induction year.

"This programme visits three Bristol schools to hear from supply teachers and pupils about what works and what doesn't when it comes to being a supply teacher in primary schools.
The pupils reveal their views on what they like and dislike about supply teachers, and how they prefer to be treated.
There are also some very practical tips from Marina Rauputu, a deputy head in New Zealand who is on a year's sabbatical, Carol Beale who is a regular supply teacher in several local schools in Bristol and Julia Daysley who specialises in Early Years. They reveal their methods for teaching, for control and for rewarding pupils, that work for any age group."
