Nonetheless, we are now realizing that these technical advances carried within them the seeds of many of today’s environmental and social problems. A new scientific approach is opening the way to a new pattern of development that takes inspiration from the organization of ecosystems, or the way living systems function, and attempts to integrate these ideas into human technology.

Original Title I Klemme i Klimaet 1
Across the world weather is changing.
But depending on where one happens to live, the changes have very different consequences. The programme travels through three different continents to show how global warming is experienced on a personal level. In India Surinder lost his wife and only son in a flood. Together with 350,000 others he is stuck in a mud hole with all his belongings gone. In drought-ridden Malawi Valentina starves, while struggling to feed her children on a small piece of land. In Denmark, however, the young farmers Lars and Dorte are now able to grow corn in the warm weather, thereby saving a lot of money on cattle feed. Climate change is not an evil everywhere and paradoxically the countries responsible for polluting the atmosphere often are not the ones suffering the worst consequences.

This extraordinary undercover report from China exposes the suffering of thousands of Chinese whose lives have been destroyed by nuclear testing. It presents exclusive evidence from inside China of spiraling levels of cancer and birth deformities among the population of Xinjiang province - part of the Great Silk Road - which was opened to tourists in 1985. Up until 1996, China had carried out extensive nuclear tests in the Zinjiang province, which is in the northwest corner of China, bordering Kazakhstan. But Xinjiang is not unpopulated and isolated, as was Bikini Atoll. The filmmakers interviewed both victims and the doctors who are struggling to cope with their medical problems in the region's hospitals. The documentary reveals that the tests were carried out under highly dangerous conditions, which could have consequences beyond China's borders. High School Adult
