Following record audiences and critical acclaim, director Peter Capaldi's wonderful comedy returns, as Kim, Den and Dr Moore clock in for six more glimpses at the daily grind on a female medical ward in the backwaters of the National Health Service. The legacy of Kim's threatened suspension lingers, new patients bring new problems, Den and Hilary's relationship is no clearer than before and Pippa's career is under the microscope. Elsewhere, a planned new wing is dangled before the staff like a carrot, complete with glossy photos, and Pippa's investigation into stools is a hit - but other than that life continues much as before. Doing the best they can in a place where difficult choices are the order of the day, this series promises some of the darkest, warmest comedy around, and shows us that sadness and laughter can sit comfortably together after all.Series 2, Episode 3Kim has stepped in to cover a night shift and is looking forward to a quiet few hours, when a new admission and the surprise appearance of an emotional Den puts paid to any plans of a kip. With Dr Moore forced to divert from her regional sports awards dinner and attend an emergency a happy ending looks possible, but B4 isn't the sort of place where things run smoothly.

No matter what they tell you, no-one is really prepared for the big event. Thirty-one-year-old Kerry, a modern career woman, is having her first baby. She teeters between the public perception and her own entirely different and bizarre perceptions of the highs and lows of pregnancy. As she tries to deal with the mental, emotional and physical changes, she begins to fantasise about her own capabilities as a mother, her misogynist obstetrician, over-zealous relatives and a husband in the midst of sympathy toothaches and training for his first marathon race. This is an hilarious and really honest look at pregnancy.
