The Jennison family members represented in this collection are William Jennison (1707-1750), William Jennison (1757-1843), Samuel Jennison (1788-1860), and Ann Elizabeth Jennison (1827-1869). William Jennison 1st, son of Samuel Jennison (1673-1730), was a minister and schoolteacher in several Massachusetts towns, and his grandson, William Jennison 2nd, was a lawyer and court clerk in Worcester, Massachusetts. Samuel Jennison, nephew of William Jennison 2nd, was a banker, historian, and biographer in Worcester and his daughter Ann Elizabeth Jennison married on 4 April 1849 William Sumner Barton (1824-1899), an attorney and city treasurer in Worcester. Ann Elizabeth Jennison's diary for the period November 1848 to December 1849 records her personal, social, familial, and religious life.
