"Ike" says he does not believe Russia has the productive capacity to wage global war. He also backs military training. Pres. Truman and Secretary Royall attend ceremony which marks "Ike's" retirement to civilian life.
"PARA-DOGS" IN ARCTIC TEST
LABRADOR--Dropping dogs by parachute, the newest operation to rescue fliers downed in the Arctic wilds, is demonstrated by a joint U.S.-Canada mission. An entire team of sled-dogs is dropped from a plane, and they prove their worth for rescue roles.
U.S. THIRD IN OLYMPICS
SWITZERLAND--As the 1948 Winter Olympics draw to a close American contestants sweep several events and come within a few points of the leading Swedes. Mrs. Gretchen Fraser, Dick Button, the bobsled teams and others win laurels for Uncle Sam. Barbara Ann Scott of Canada triumphs. Some spectacular downhill skiing is shown.
