Tumultuous welcomes greet him in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. He's greeted by Philippine President Marcos in Manila and the Summit takes on a note of hope...but cautiously. The local schoolhouse, a farm, and 16 miners' cottages were engulfed in the slide. All Wales is shocked. SPORTS FOOTBALL MICHIGAN STATE TOPS PURDUE: At Spartan Stadium, unbeaten Michigan State wins big over Purdue. Hawaiian fullback Bob Apisa scores three while Spartan quarterback Jim Raye's passing arm demolishes the Boilermakers defense. Final score: Michigan State 41, Purdue 20.
