A one-man helicopter called the "Gyro-Copter" is introduced in Florida as a possible boon to long distance fishermen. Easily maneuverable and carrying a load of 250 pounds (pilot included), it operates about as easily as an outboard motorboat, but with far greater range.

President Kennedy makes his debut on the international scene as he arrives in Paris and is greeted by President Charles De Gaulle. His talks with the French President precede those with Soviet Premier Khrushchev in Vienna. The two leaders of the two great Western powers come to a quick agreement- a full defense of Berlin against Communist encroachment.
TRUJILLO KILLED; ARMY IN POWER:
A bloody dictatorship of 31 years comes to an end as assassins' bullets end the regime of Rafael Trujillo, strong man of the Dominican Republic. He lived by the gun during his terror-ridden rule and he died by the gun.
SPORTS
500-MILE RACE WON BY FOYT IN RECORD TIME:
A crowd of 200,000 sees 33 starters get away in the Golden Anniversary running of the Indianapolis Speedway classic. A five-car pile-up slows the race after the first hour, but no one is injured. A. J. Foyt of Houston, Texas, wins the richest race ever run on the brick and asphalt track.
250,000 SEE OUTSIDER "PSIDIUM", WIN EPSOM DERBY:
The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth head the crowd at Epsom Downs for the 182nd running of the Epsom Derby. It's a nip and tuck race all the way to the wire when a 99 to 1 outsider, PSIDIUM, comes from nowhere to pass the tiring leaders and chalk up a thrilling win..........

President Kennedy announces that the U.S. and Britain will send high-level negotiators to Moscow in July for conferences on a nuclear test ban. Meanwhile, the President says that the U.S. will discontinue nuclear tests unless some other country resumes them.
"WILD and WONDERFUL": V I Ps ATTEND PARTY ON PARISIAN SET:
They crown "Miss France of America" on the set of "WILD and WONDERFUL" and it's like a breath of Paris. The background is a huge street scene of the Montmarte - a set that helped keep the entire movie company right in Universal City rather than cross the seas for authentic atmosphere. When in California, do as the Parisians do.

SIX MEN RUN FOUR-MINUTE MILE:
The first six finishers in the mile run at Compton, California, break the fabled four-minute mark as New Zealand's Peter Snell runs the fourth fastest mile in history-only a second and one-tenth away from his own world mark of 3:54:4.
"CHATEAUGAY" IS TRES GAI:
The Kentucky Derby winner who was defeated in the Preakness bounces right back to take the Belmont Stakes. In the stretch he takes off after "Candy Spots", who won the Preakness, and in a driving finish wins $100,000 and cheers from those who backed him at 4 1/2 to 1............

President Kennedy, in his first news conference since the beginning of May, prefaces the question and answer session with a strong statement on our stand on Berlin. He challenges the Russians to let Berliners determine their own fate in free elections - giving them the chance at the self-determination that the Russians maintain should prevail in all countries.
CONGO LEADER REPUDIATES UNITY:
Moise Tshombe, President of Katanga Province in the Congo, returns home in triumph after being freed from imprisonment by the Central Government. In jail he agreed to bring his seceding province back into the Central fold, but once home he says he's going to govern Katanga himself.

ON THE 31ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE WILL ROGERS HOSPITAL AT SARANAC LAKE, N.Y., THERE NEW BUILDINGS ARE DEDICATED TO CARE FOR THE ILL AND DISABLED OF THE AMUSEMENT INDUSTRY. A. MONTAGUE OUTLINES THE HOSPITAL'S AIMS, WHILE RICHARD WALSH, LABOR LEADER PRESENTS THE MAN-OF-TH-YEAR WILL ROGERS AWARD.
THREE-IN-ONE ROCKET MAKES HISTORY:
At Cape Canaveral, Florida, a Thor-Able-Star rocket lofts three satellites aloft in one shoot. The Greb studies sun radiation, the Injun picks up information on the Van Allen belt while the artificial star, the Transit IV-A will guide navigation. Moreover, the Transit is powered by the first nuclear space battery with a life span of 90 years.

The Czechoslovakians take one rough river, six kayaks and six contestants to come up with a water-borne version of the Ski obstacle course. Of course, a rubber Czech wins!
