What is the most important issue confronting the American people in this election campaign? There's no question about the answer that I have found in travelling all over this nation. Above everything else the American people want leaders who will keep the peace without surrender for America in the world. Henry Cabot Lodge and I have had the opportunity of serving with President Eisenhower in this cause for the last seven and a half years. We both know Mr. Khrushchev; we have sat opposite the conference table with him. We know what peace demands. We will keep America the strongest nation in the world and we will couple that strength with firm diplomacy. No apologies, no regrets, always willing to negotiate for peace but never conceding anything without getting a concession in return. Vote for Nixon and Lodge, November 8th.

This video features the often dramatic climaxes of American presidential elections since 1948. One question often asked by people with an interest in politics is whether US presidential elections always have a Decisive Moment, a statement, a mistake, or an event that decides the race and puts one of the two candidates into the most powerful office in the world. This video analyzes all of the presidential political campaigns from Harry S. Truman through George H.W. Bush and demonstrates the Decisive Moment that either won or lost the presidential election for the candidates. By using archival footage and visits to museums and libraries founded by every single president since World War II, this unique program tries to find the answer.

FRONTLINE and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation go behind the latest headlines to investigate Russian leader Vladimir Putin-his remarkable ascent from unemployed spy to modern-day czar, and the persistent accusations of criminality and corruption that have accompanied that rise. Trace Putin's career back two decades to his political start in St. Petersburg, where allegations of corruption began almost immediately. The film chronicles Putin's ascent as Boris Yeltsin's chosen successor, examines his controversial ties to former German Chancellor Gerhardt Schroeder, and revisits the horrific 1999 Moscow apartment bombings -- which continue to haunt the country, with unanswered questions about the role of Russian security services and Putin's complicity. From a senior police officer who tried to arrest Putin on corruption charges, to an investigator who tried to investigate the apartment bombings, to former writers and documentarians hired to burnish his reputation, Putin's Way offers key players' accounts portraying a Russian leader who began by professing hope and democracy but now is stoking nationalism, conflict, authoritarianism, and a complicated relationship with the West.
