Abstract / Summary
Since 1981, Latin American and Caribbean women’s organizations have hosted regional and national feminist meetings to discuss and support feminist movements across Latin America. Discussion topics at these conferences ranged from lesbianism to prostitution and from racism to economic justice. The coordinators of the seventh conference were particularly interested in discussing discrimination and oppression due to neoliberal policies. With issues due to neoliberalism in mind, a discussion of the contemporary political and philosophical currents of feminism led off the conference. In addition, workshops during the conference focused on topics such as: lesbianism, black women, prostitution, globalization, and socialism. Included in this work are pictures from a March Against Violence that was hosted by the conference, descriptions of the workshops, and recaps of debates.
