Abstract / Summary
Date: 18.8.18. Informant: Motagoi. A passage in the Trobriand language with simultaneous English translation, numbered J195, defines 'gubuma,' the sickness of longing when a loved one departs. The information is written on the back of reused stationery, consisting of a partial, handwritten letter from Mary C. Jonas, probably to Malinowski, discussing the war and asking about news of his mother.
