- Abstract / Summary
- Selma (Björk) is a Czech immigrant who has settled in an American village. She is a single mother in an American provincial town and works hard in the factory to save up for the eye surgery that is needed for her son to not also lose his sight. He suffers from the same eye disease, which she has and is now in secret completely blind. Selma fantasizes herself away. In dreams she can both sing and dance. She will quarrel with the neighbor Bill (David Morse), who accuses her of stealing money that would save him from bankruptcy. This escalates the drama in her life.
