Abstract / Summary: This disk, beautiful and fundamental, is an authentic hymn to the expressive meaningfulness and highest virtuosity in sacred music that appears in Italy in this historic period towards the end of the XVI century and the first ten years of the XVII century. This recording offers a new vision of the artistic and historic reality of the musical and vocal Italian art with regards to religious scope, an art form that reflects the coeval production both in the literary form and in the figurative arts, characterized by a particular sensuality with regards to “sacred”. This “sensuality” is well represented with various nuances in this recording of Nella Anfuso (comprising of stunning virtuosity that not only wants to surprise but, with innumerous cascades of “sounding pearls”, works on the senses).
