Addiction can break up families, and often does. This is the story of a daughter whose father, an addicted gambler, left the family when the children were young to pursue his addiction in Las Vegas. As a grown woman, Natalie goes to Las Vegas in search of her father, where she finds him homeless, gaunt, and unwashed, but still driven by the desire to gamble. Despite her best efforts, he is, at first, unwilling to acknowledge his addiction and accept the help he needs.
This is a chronicle of a daughter's struggle to get her father off the streets and back into society, and to be accepting of a less than perfect father, who still nonetheless is her one and only dad. Over time she ameliorates his condition, finding him shelter and social services. She also tries to help him conquer his addiction and seems to be partially successful. By the end of the film they have become father and daughter
An important film for courses in counseling, family relations and social work.
