It was all destroyed by divorce. Unable to cope, Sara turned to crystal meth, and now uses every day, all day if she can. She has lost everything, including custody of her daughter, and lives in an endless cycle of drugs, stealing, lying, drug testing, and court appearances. Watch as addicts and their families confront the compulsions that are destroying their lives.
Millions of Americans struggle with addiction. Most need help to stop. In this powerful and gripping television series, people confront their darkest demons and seek a route to redemption. From compulsive gamblers to shopaholics to drug addicts, INTERVENTION™ profiles people whose dependencies or compulsive behaviors have brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each episode in the series ends with a surprise intervention staged by the family and friends of real people at their breaking point. They'll be offered a second chance. But will they take it?
Tammi, 45, an alcoholic, grew up in a family of six girls and is the daughter of a dentist and a medical technician. Her sisters say of their background, 'We were from a very good family. We were raised with good values, upper-middle class, all private Catholic schools... We had golf lessons, tennis lessons, swim lessons, all of it.'
After his father's death in 2001 Daniel's escalating dependence on methamphetamine and marijuana materialized to his mother Joy. She sought help in the form of religious based organizations that offered counseling for her son. Daniel was unresponsive, sinking deeper into addiction.

25-year old Jacob is addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs.
Though he holds a steady job as a banker, his nights are a blur of drinking and barroom brawls.
Can he accept help from his mother, once a drug transporter herself?
By day, Jacob is a banker. At night, he regularly consumes two pints of whiskey and a 12 pack of beer. The picture of a functional alcoholic, Jacob started drinking and experimenting with drugs in high school. Now, to cope with his depression, he is hooked on alcohol and prescription medication. A recent overdose, in which his heart stopped, has caused his parents to step into the picture.
When drunk, Jacob is often violent and confrontational. An intervention appears to be the only solution, but will Jacob listen to his mother, once a drug abuser and transporter herself? Though she once supplied Jacob and has served jail time, her only concern now is Jacob's well being.

Addiction can strike anyone, anywhere, but some communities are more vulnerable than others. The A&E series Intervention continues its intensely gripping coverage of addiction with Intervention In-Depth, a powerful extension of the Emmy Award-winning brand that uncovers the drug epidemics plaguing specific neighborhoods around the country. From Chicago, where heroin abuse is reaching epidemic proportions in both the inner city and affluent suburbs, to southern Ohio, where record use of prescription painkillers like Oxycontin, Percocet and Vicodin has put Scioto County on the DEA watch list for prescription drug trafficking, to the guilt-ridden pregnant addicts responsible for an alarming increase in drug-addicted newborns, Intervention In-Depth provides a candid and personal look at the devastation of addiction and the growing movement of people desperate to save their communities.

What makes someone a genius? How do we define the term? What are the benefits of being a genius? What are the pitfalls? How has genius shaped the boundaries of our existence and our history? How do individuals who possess genius contribute, or detract, from society? Mystery Of Genius: Masters and Madmen explores every aspect of these uncommon minds. Leading scholars from the fields of psychology, linguistics, anatomy and education help illuminate the many factors that combine to create this elusive trait, while studies of extraordinary individuals help put their theories into perspective. Mystery Of Genius plumbs the recesses of the human mind. The program also examines the thin line separating brilliance from madness, and the sometimes tragic consequences of crossing this barrier. Mystery of Genius would be useful for classes on World History, World Culture, Science and Technology, Political Science, Psychology, Education and Ethics. It is appropriate for middle school, high school and college.
