In ‘The Secret Family of Jesus’, Robert Beckford will reveal the true story of Jesus’ human family and how it existed for at least 300 years after his death and played a major role in the founding of Christianity; and how the official church, the one we know today, stole their movement and airbrushed them out of the official history. He will reveal how Jesus had brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and nephews, great nephews and so on - a large extended family that existed for at least 300 years after his death. Using his expert knowledge and the testimony of world-renowned Biblical scholars Robert will crack the code in the Bible that reveals how the Jesus family were removed from the official history. Starting in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem – the holiest site in Christendom - Robert will reveal the true story of Mary Magdalene, how close she was to Jesus and how she lost out in the early power struggles within the church to a man - Peter. Robert will visit the ruins of her hometown – Magdala – never before filmed and closed to the public. He will reveal the extraordinary story of the last intimate meeting between Mary and Jesus. In Bethlehem, Robert will reveal how the church created the story of Jesus’ family we are so familiar with today– that of just Joseph, Mary and Jesus. He will show how Jesus was given a special ‘royal’ genealogy to allow him to fulfil an Old Testament prophecy; and how in the process the Church suppressed the story of Jesus’ real family. In a small village just outside Jerusalem, Robert will reveal the recently discovered cave of John the Baptist and will show how John was not only Jesus’ cousin but also his guru and a founder of Christianity; and how consecutive gospel writers cleverly altered John’s true story to downplay his role. Robert will also reveal the true story of Jesus’ brother, James, and how after Jesus’ death he ran the church in Jerusalem for 20 years; and how there was a clear Jesus’ family dynastic succession that controlled the church for at least 100 years; and that although James was the first Christian bishop – the first true Pope – he gets almost no mention in the official church story and has been excised from the official story. In the climax to the film, Robert will decode the original message of Jesus’ family and show how it is at odds to the Christian message today and that it was too dangerous a message for a church that had become so mainstream and conservative.

Jesus, the single child of a nuclear family; his parents, Mary and Joseph. That is the traditional image. But a moment's thought will dispel such an image. Jesus lived 2000 years ago, in a society in which the extended family, and not the nuclear family, was the norm. At any rate, many people believe that Jesus' relatives were mostly in the background, playing little part in the fate of Jesus and the faith he founded. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The evidence from both the gospels and history and archaeology reveal that Jesus not only had a vast family network, but that network inspired and supported him from childhood to death. These films chronicle the practical, and moral, backing of a vast extended family: from his parents, Joseph and Mary, to his grandfather, Joachim, his cousin, John the Baptist, and his brothers, Simon, Jude, Joseph and James.
