In addition to the dozen titles on the original Lp (which are taken from the very fruitful 1946 sessions of the reunited Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band), this CD reissue also includes the six titles recorded by trumpeter Benny Strickler (his only recordings) with the wartime edition of the group. While Strickler was a fine lyrical player, it is for the two-trumpet frontline of 1946 (which features Watters and Bob Scobey) that this third of three volumes is recommended; highpoints include spirited renditions of "South," "Chattanooga Stomp," "Copenhagen," "Panama" and "Weary Blues." The highly enjoyable music is also included in Lu Watters' four-CD "Complete on Good Time Jazz" box set. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
