Starting there, the narration depicts the evolution of the town into a modest Roman city: Lutèce. Town-planning ambitions led to the expansion of the left bank, the creation of the Cardo (Nowadays rue Saint-Jacques) and the building of the forum and the thermal baths. At a later stage, the decline of the Roman Empire allowed Christians to take control of the city. The Saint-Geneviève Church and the Saint-Apôtres monastery illustrate this revival.

The period of the revolution is one of the most hectic in French History and one in which Paris endured numerous physical alterations. The Parisians changed the course of History with their uprising, which led to the storming of the Bastille prison and the burning of the City Hall in 1789. Their way of life started to change, the institutions maturated, and the city was in constant evolution. After the events of 1848, the baron Haussmann who was hired by Napoleon 3, set in motion numerous constructions works to rebuild the capital. He created broad avenues linked to the main train-stations, uniformed building heights where gas was supplied and also worked for the completion of the Arc de Triomphe and the Invalides.
