A Fiordland Crested Penguin has been brought to the Wildbase after being found starving and lost on a local beach. Hundreds of kilometres from his normal habitat the penguin’s condition is critical. In the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, a Bichon Frise called Jessie has arrived with a suspicious lump. It’s cancerous and urgent surgery is required. And over in Farm Services they’re treating a goat with an infected hoof. Can they save his leg?

This week the vets at Massey work on one of their smallest patients ever when a Northland Green Gecko is brought in with an infected jaw. Meanwhile a team from the Wildbase are out rescuing native New Zealand robins but finding and trapping these little birds is never easy.
