Written from The World Conference on Literacy and Society in Rome, sponsored by UNESCO. Mentions the economic progress of Italy in the past ten years. Discusses the conference, and the difference between the USSR and Cuban approach to the problem of illiteracy and that of other represented countries. Conference conducted in Italian, English, Spanish, and French. Strauss spoke on the topic of “The Literacy of Women: Peace.” The UN Literacy Association arranged for an audience with the Pope.
