Abstract / Summary
This document provides a brief history of the Swiss Association of University Women, part of the International Federation of University Women. In 1923, a physician created a group of professional women in Geneva and, after building ties in Basel, Bern, and Zurich, a national organization of university women was formed in 1924. That year, the Swiss Association applied for a membership charter with the International Federation. By 1931, the Swiss Association contained seven local groups which met each year in sites alternating between German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland. The remainder of the document details the Association’s organization at the national level, including its scholarship initiatives and an elaboration on its various committees: professional interests, women’s interests, domestic affairs, and international relations.
