- Abstract / Summary
- Rosika Schwimmer, a Hungarian feminist and peace activist, wrote this book, Without Women There Can Be No Universal Suffrage, in response to the assertion of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and bourgeois suffrage campaigners that women’s suffrage and universal suffrage were two separate issues. The majority of this book contains the results of a survey of politicians in different countries conducted by Schwimmer’s Hungarian feminist-pacifist magazine A nö és a társadalom. Schwimmer included responses from Sir Charles McLaren (England), Keir Hardie (England), Dr. S. van Houten (Holland), Dr. P. J. Troelstra (Holland), Piy Arsuaga (Spain), Theodor Barth (Germany), Helmuth von Gerlach (Germany), Dr. Heinz Potthof (Germany), John F. Shafroth (United States--Governor of Colorado), Daniel R. Anthony (Washington, United States), Robert L. Owen (Washington, United States), F.E. Warren (Washington, United States).
