Abstract / Summary

Since 1981, Latin American and Caribbean women’s organizations have hosted feminist meetings to discuss and support feminist movements across Latin America. Discussion topics at these conferences ranged from lesbianism to prostitution and from racism to economic justice. The goal of the Central American Organization Committee for the Sixth Feminist Meeting was to compile a diverse collection of memories of those who attended the conference as well as syntheses of the forums and workshops. Forums and workshops focused on the growth of the political force of feminism. Issues such as prostitution, abortion, racism, and immigration were discussed and resolutions concerning these issues were passed. This review of the Sixth Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Meeting provides both a general synopsis of the issues addressed as well as the opinions of some of the attendees.
