- Abstract / Summary
- The Go-Between is the story of a young boy's adoration for a beautiful woman, and his involvement in her love affair with one of her father's tenant farmers. Julie Christie plays Marian, a woman whose forbidden love for her social inferior (Alan Bates) sees her employ a young boy as a go-between to facilitate the romance. Touching on the themes of the loss of childhood innocence, class distinctions, and the consequences of deception, Losey's film is a timeless classic, and one of the greatest period dramas ever made.
