Abstract / Summary
This document lists the conclusions of the Household Women Seminar. It is divided into three “Committees”: Committee I examined international solidarity, IMPLEMENTATION OF DWIKORA, CALLING WITHIN, and general matters; Committee II focused on the issues of education and culture; Committee III took on the formation of a true Indonesian family based on the principles of President Sukarno’s Political Manifesto. The first committee is the focus here. The three points under International Solidarity included: a statement to the Việt Cộng, lauding the successful victory of the Vietnamese people and Vietnamese women, in destroying the American imperialist blockade at Bien Hoa; a statement to the PRC government, to congratulate them on their successful nuclear testing (interesting, given Gerwani and Api Kartini’s strident anti- nuclear posturing?), and to support Chinese Prime Minister Zhou Enlai’s initiative for a high-level pan-nation conference on prohibiting, and destroying [existing] nuclear weapons; and, supporting the resolutions of the 2nd Summit Conference of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, Cairo (5-10 October 1964) (attended by President Sukarno), re: support for the anti-imperialist front and anti-NEKOLIM (NEoKOLonialis-IMperialis: neo-colonialist neo-imperialist) struggle, which meant victory for the non-aligned progressives over the non-aligned hypocrites. Also support for the 2nd Afro- Asian Conference. By strengthening the Gerwani Central Leadership Board’s declaration to support and actively implement DWIKORA in the crush Malaysian neo- colonialism projects and the revolution’s resistance, such as: implementation of training centres throughout the districts, either by Gerwani alone or jointly with other women’s organisations; including women – among others, Household Women – in the DWIKORA preparations, all the way to the villages in the form of cooperation with neighbourhood associations with exercises, maintaining village vigilance, public kitchens, fire brigades etc. National vigilance by purging the revolutionary apparatus of counter- revolutionary elements in official bodies, government apparatus, organisations etc. Also, to take rigorous action against newspapers and persons that deliberately spread malicious lies to cause national disunity. As well as, supporting the implementation of the Interior Minister’s Instruction No.9 of 1964 to purge the elements of banned parties and counter-revolution from the ranks of officials in the Ministry of the Interior. And, hoped that the operation of annihilation would complete its tasks with the pre-agreed time-frame, in accordance with the principles of implementing the duumvirate of the Indonesian Armed Forces and the Indonesian People, including women. The economy, by supporting TAVIP in the realisation of economic principles. Encouraging household women to use local foodstuffs, which were cheap and easily to obtain. Including household women as social control or social support for local distribution agencies in their own areas. In order to overcome famine, the seminar (“Calling Within”) called on household women to engage in handicrafts, cottage industries, stock raising, etc; form cooperative productions, savings and loans etc.; and hold mutual aid teams in joint shopping, childcare etc.
Under “General Matters,” the seminar addressed speedy creation of a
Cabinet based on national unity and
mutual support; speedy implementation of
a democratic marriage law; death penalty for that human slaughterhouse Husein and associates; speedy repairs of roads and communications to improve economic relations between districts.
