Details
- Abstract / Summary
- Date: 1.3.18. Place: Oburaku. Informant: Yousala Gawa. Two pages contain a passage in the Trobriand language with simultaneous English translation, numbered J227, discussing how the tibia (a lower leg bone) may be removed soon after a person's death and the flesh eaten. They are written on the back of reused stationery: a partial, typed letter dated 3.4.19, probably from Charles Seligman in Oxfordshire to Malinowski regarding his future work and an agricultural paper; and a partial, hand-written letter, possibly from pearl trader Billy Hancock, discussing the affairs of other local pearl traders, Raphael Brudo and George Auerbach.
