Abstract / Summary
A blue folder labeled 'Blue Book I - Vol. 2 (g)' and 'Malinowski 132' contains 105 pages of a variety of typed and written documents, many probably written on the backs of others, and on any available stationery, such as unfolded envelopes. The notes are primarily written in English or indigenous text, and include: a genealogical chart; a list of a chieftain's wives, with apparent village and clan relationships; descriptions and sketches of various implements; the texts of 10 'friend stories'; texts of other 'kukwanebu,' or mythical tales; vocabulary lists; partial manuscripts on sexual and other practices; geographical maps and drawings; texts of magical spells; notes on the annual harvest festival; a partial letter, in French, from local pearl trader Raphael Brudo; and a partial, handwritten account of fishing practices, possibly written by a different author.
