- Abstract / Summary
- Five typewritten pages supporting a work on the magic of the Trobriand Islanders concern a type of magic having to do with the growth and protection of coconuts and betel nuts. The First page, written in indigenous language with simultaneous English transliteration, contains the text of such a magic spell, apparently guarding coconuts from insect pests. The second page contains notes on the spell's performance, and continues to the end of the document with Malinowski's linguistic analysis. The final page is numbered 9 and incomplete; Pages numbered 5 through 8 are missing from the document. A note written in red pencil at the top of the first page reads, 'Incorporated already into Mag For!'
