Abstract / Summary
This two-page spread includes the reports from several national groups. One section is titled: "Rights and Duties of Women in the Democratic Republic of Korea." Another section is "GERWANI for Peasant Women." This section is an overview of the work undertaken by GERWANI (Gerakan Wanita Indonesia: Indonesian Women's Movement) to empower Indonesian peasant women. The third section is titled, "Women against ‘Emergency Laws'—German Federal Republic." The first image includes a banner, "Mass Hunger Strik (sic.) of Jana Sangh Work…" It is captioned: "Prices are rising, living standards are getting lower. Indian women, indignant at this state of affairs, are reacting with mass demonstrations initiated by the Indian women's organisation." Another image includes a banner with phrases cut off in the original photograph, but the phrase, "Fuera los agresores yanquis de Santo Domingo" is visible. The image is captioned: "Argentine women organise important mass demonstrations against the sending of Argentine soldiers of the Dominican Republic. In many cities, Buenos Aires, Tucuman, San Juan, Mendoza, Mar del Plata and Santa Fe, they have paraded in the streets with the slogan 'Our sons will not fight against the Dominican people.' They collect signatures on petitions addressed to members of Parliament, distribute leaflets printed by the Union of Argentine Women demanding ‘No Argentine soldiers to be sent to drown our Dominican brothers in blood!'" The last image includes a poster that reads: "Enlist for Peace Now," and is captioned: "In Brooklyn (USA), women are collecting signatures on a letter addressed to President Johnson in which they demand peace in the Dominican Republic and in Vietnam."
