Abstract / Summary
The young Leopold Kessler arrives in Germany shortly after World War II, where his uncle gets him a job as a sleeping car conductor on the Zentropa train line. Here he encounters the daughter of the railway owner Hartmann, and the two begin a relationship, despite the fact that Katharina's love does not seem completely sincere. At the same time Germany is ravaged by a resistance group called Werwolf, who exploits Leopold's naivety for their own bloody purpose. He is a puppet trapped in a maze of lies.
