- Lars von Trier's feature debut is considered by many to be the most significant and innovative Danish film. The story is told within the thriller genre - in a dense, enigmatic, fascinating and at the same time provocative manner - of the police inspector Fisher, returning from Cairo to Europe to clear up the murder of some little girls. Back in Europe he seeks Osborne, his old mentor, who has also been on the trail of a certain Harry Gray. According to Osborne, one can only understand and thus solve a murder by identifying with the killer. On this basis he slips into the role of Harry Gray ...
