Abstract / Summary
**The image(s) of the document may be omitted here because of copyright considerations** Thirty-two typed pages comprise an instructional package for schoolchildren, itself a class project by Hazel Sumner, a student in the University of Liverpool's School of Education. It is part of course materials relating to Tikopia produced for the 'Money' unit of the Schools Council's Place Time and Society course for 8- to 13-year-olds. Sumner's package includes: a script for a film strip, with captions for photographs of Tikopia (not included here) provided by anthropologist Raymond Firth; text for a student workbook, with questions, diagrams and drawings, maps and other material, and notes to artists and others who would be preparing it for publication; and other notes and acknowledgements, especially of Firth's help. Firth contributed photographs of Tikopia life and worked with the Council's research officer to prepare materials aimed to help children understand ideas about exchange and money. In return the Council donated educational equipment to Tikopia schools.
