- Description
- A child sat on the ground in a clearing playing a geedal or bow harp. The instrument consists of a sound box, in one end of which is inserted a curved stick that projects outwards and upwards. On this stick are attached seven tuning pegs. A string is strung from each peg and attached to the sound box. In the background the shelters of a settlement are visible. This image is similar to image 1997.21.3.506. Balonyona, a master geedal player, had just been playing the geedal and Mekita loved the sound and picked the instrument up to try and play.
