- Description
- A child, Ngbanda, sat on a raised low wooden platform made of logs and outside the dome-shaped shelters in a settlement. Ngbanda is removing a chigger from his toes. Chiggers are pregnant fleas that burrow into people's feet. Ngbanda also has his hair shaved leaving a raised dark band at the front. Large metal vessels are on the floor and a carved wooden goblet-shaped vessel lies on its side in the background. The stems of tall spears can be seen lying outside the shelters.
