- Abstract / Summary
- Black identity in small-town white America turns out to be anything but idyllic. Professor Walt Williams' preoccupation with achieving tenure in the "publish or perish" world of academe alienates him from his family. If that's not enough, his ski bum son Victor, and daughter Lily, a high school honor student smitten with the white boy next door, are assuming provincial identities. now they're jeopardizing Walt's plan for them to become high powered black professionals.
