Abstract / Summary
In this statement written to Argentinean women, Angélica Fuselli describes the new international role of women in the postwar period. Fuselli connects international events such as the founding of the United Nations in San Francisco and its recognition of women’s rights with the expanding civic duties of women in Argentina. Fuselli argues that Argentinean women should not disengage themselves from world movements, but should take on more responsibilities in order to gain rights at home. This document, printed by the Inter-American Commission of Women (Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres (CIM)), provides a glimpse of how delegates to the commission used their international connections to argue for women’s rights and women’s participation in civil society in their countries.
