Louis Sarno's notes on liner card (ms ink) – 'LIMBOKU '89, '92.54'
[Nb. continues from 1997.21.2.294 - Noel Lobley 20/07/2010]
Louis Sarno's notes on liner card (ms ink) – 'Tracks 1-9: continued from DAT 53. Limboku 20 May '89 Kenyé. Total time: 35 minutes. Track times. 1) 3m. 2) 2m. 3) 2m. 4) 4 1/2m. 5) 4m. 6) 6 1/2m. 7) 3m. 8) 5m. 9) 4 1/2m, end Limboku 20 May '89 Kenyé. Tracks 10-13: from Limboku night 3 Nov. '92 at Yandoumbé. This was one of many Limboku for Poli, who had died three months before. Only now, when all groups had returned from the forest, was everyone together since her death. The women came from Poli's area of Yandoumbé and sat and sang for a while in front of my house, where I'd set up my microphones (I remained inside). When it began to rain the women returned to Poli's area, continuing their Limboku long into the night. A few women remained to gossip. Later in the night I recorded more limboku from a distance. Total time: 47m. Track times: 10) 16m. 11) 4 1/2m. 12) 18m. 13) 8 1/2m, end Limboku 3 Nov. '92 Yandoumbé. Tracks 14-15: from Limboku early Nov. '92 at Yandoumbé - another Limboku for Poli, a few nights after the one above (tracks 10-13). Also recorded from a distance. On top of that, the recording seems to be slightly defective. Some beautiful songs, but so far away! Only for the truly converted. Total time: 43m. Track times: 14) 41 1/2m. 15) 1 1/2m, end Limboku early Nov. '92 Yandoumbé. END DAT 54'
