Review
The Crown Prince of Memphis Soul, a.k.a., the Oldest Living Teenager, Rufus Thomas clowns, jokes, brags, and dances while singing five lengthy numbers. Rufus penned three songs including the hits "Walking The Dog," and the 17 minute long "Do The Funky Chicken," a third "Big Fine Hunk Of A Woman," is a blues set off by a comedic rap. He turns Merle Haggard's classic "Today I Started Loving You Again," into a nearly 19 minute tour-de-force. And goes deep soul on "Somebody's Got To Go." If you never saw Rufus in-person, then this remastered live taping is a good introduction to one of America's most beloved soul artists. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
