- Review
- Jones' second album is even more powerful and better formatted than his successful and enticing debut, Blue Texas Soul. Once again producing and writing all the songs, Jones' talents are in abundance on this disc: from the slow blues of "The Milkman Game" to the soulful strut of "Can't Leave Your Love Alone" (which features his wife Sheila White Jones on background vocals), to the jazzy instrumental work on "After Midnight." Utilizing the same band that backed him so well on his debut disc, certain tracks also include the Memphis Horns providing stellar musical punctuation on soul-driven tracks like "Be Good To Your Lady" and "You Shatter My Heart." No sophomore slump here, this is one very well-thought-out and well-executed record. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
