- Review
- In recent years, the popularity of Les Mysteres Des Voix Bulgares and, more particularly, the Benedectine Monks has brought devotional chanting to a mass audience. Anthology of Chant doesn't have enough marketing muscle behind it to match the sales figures of the aforementioned artists. But the artists assembled for the collection will certainly appeal to anyone who got their first taste of the music through the more famous Bulgarian or Spanish ensembles. The diversity here would certainly be hard to match, including chants by Tibetan monks, Armenian and European choirs, a Native American peace pipe prayer, a Turkish ney flautist, and a security guard at the Taj Mahal. All of the pieces share qualities that are both soothing and inspirational. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
