Abstract / Summary
A group of interviews with friends, family, and colleagues of Bishop Henry Knox Sherrill, centering on his term as Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States, 1947-1958. The memoirs contain much information on the changes and growth of one denomination during a critical period. Bishop Sherrill's leadership of the National Council of Churches of Christ in America and the World Council of Churches provides a broad view of national and world-wide ecumenical development.
