Modeling Behavior for Children - Sandi Schwartz, Parenting Guru
Details
- Abstract / Summary
- Sandi Schwartz, Parenting Guru shares how sometimes we model things for children that we don't really want to be modeling. Take disrespect for example, there are many times we treat our children with disrespect and then when they model it back to us we say, "Don't be disrespectful". If you are busy doing something and the child comes in saying, "Mommy, mommy" and you whip around and say "Don't you see I'm busy now", that is disrespectful to the child who innocently came in to ask you something. And then, when your child is in the middle of something and you come in and interrupt him and the child says, "Mom I'm in the middle of something" you say, "Don't be disrespectful to me". We have to be conscious that we are modeling what we want to get back from our kids.
