Cesar Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist. A co-founder of the National Farm Workers Association (now the United Farm Workers), Chavez was the best known Latino American civil rights activist in the 1960's and 1970's, and is today a major historical icon in the Latino community.
