The Archives of Women's Political Communication provides digital access to speeches of U.S. women senators and representatives, governors and lieutenant governors, U.S. cabinet members, U.S. Supreme Court justices, and first ladies; international women leaders, presidents and prime ministers; and historically significant women leaders and activists. The archives are a resource for faculty teaching courses and conducting research in political science, speech communication, journalism, women's studies, sociology, history and other fields. Researchers, students, and anyone interested in women’s political rhetoric can search the archives by topic or name.

Conference on the Global Status of Women and Girls (March 2016)

Christopher Newport University, College of Arts and Humanities, seeks papers for the forthcoming conference on the Global Status of Women and Girls to be held at CNU, March 3-5, 2016. This interdisciplinary conference seeks to foster inquiries into the complex and multifocal issues faced by women and girls around the world, both historically and today. Scholars from all academic disciplines are invited to submit proposals addressing the political, social, economic, psychological, developmental, educational, literary, artistic, philosophical, religious, ethical, and health issues of women and girls. The conference seeks not only to clarify key questions that must be asked in this vital area of public policy but also to unearth the forces that created these current dilemmas. Through the interdisciplinary study of past and present, the conference will engage researchers in policy conversations benefiting the global community.

Please submit a 350 to 500-word abstract on this topic by November 1 at http://globalstatusofwomen-conf.org/. All submissions will be peer reviewed, and those accepted will be notified no later than January 1, 2016. Finished papers will ideally be 15-20 minutes in length. Seven Sisters Archives Project: "College Women"

With the support of a one-year Foundations planning grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the seven women's colleges once known as the "Seven Sisters" launch College Women: Documenting the History of Women in Higher Education (http://www.collegewomen.org/). College Women brings together--for the first time online--digitized letters, diaries, scrapbooks and photographs of women who attended the seven partner institutions: Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Vassar, Wellesley, and Radcliffe (now the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University).

Women on the Map: App for Women's History (SPARK):

This new mapping application, available for free through Google's Field Trip, was developed by a group of young women. As noted on their web site, Spark, "it's not that women don't make history--it's that we don't honor them for it."
